"the fuck is happening to this generation?"

 So living in the city of Calgary, dressing nicely isn't really that big. The average male wears a ton of A&F, Urban Outfitter tank tops, and really bad denim cut offs. Mullets are also very popular here.... yeah.....
So when someone like me were to pass by, it'd seem a little out of place haha. I just thought it was hilarious that when I was out today, a man (a total trucker, hick dude) stepped out of his truck, walked passed me and boasted "the fuck is happening to this generation?!"
I got a pretty good chuckle out of it. The way I see it, if I get a comment or a weird look by the way I'm dressed, I'm doing something right.

Adventures.

Today I decided to be adventurous! (and I got a haircut**)

My mom and I decided to escape from the city and drive out and explore! We found this huge rock that was once a chunk on a mountain, but fell off and is now a tourist site haha. I don't know if you're allowed to, but I still went over the fence and started to climb the rock. It was awesome! I found this spot just big enough for me to fit that lead down to a few other rocks and I was able to sit there and enjoy an amazing view! I loved it and definitely want to go back!

 After the rock, we went down to the river. It was really nice! I got close enough on the rocks that I was able to touch the water and cool off my feet a bit since the weather was so amazing! We sat there for a bit, had a few butterflies land on our heads and a spider jump on my shoe... not fun. But it was amazing! I'm still pretty proud of the fact that I wore the worst shoes for this but still managed to climb all that I did without slipping haha. That would've been so shitty.

 In the outfit I wore:

Summer?

So the weather is finally changing here in Calgary, so that means summer is creeping up on me.... bleh.

As much as I'd prefer to keep layering up, it's time to shed those and attempt to work in some summer items to my closet.

Something I always get excited for in the summer, is awesome sunglasses. I'm lucky that we get a ton in at work, and can stock up there! But for now, these three are definitely my favorites! Check out American Apparel's Vintage sunglasses here!

Another thing I'm a really big fan of this year is STRIPES! I'm Obsessed! Again, Apparel's selection of stripes has been so great lately, that I've stocked up on as much as I can! I have this weird goal to wear an all stripe outfit, so look forward to that! Click here to check out all the amazing striped products from american apparel!

Denim's been a new love of mine. I don't know why, but I've fallen in love with it! Same with the striped outfit, I really want to wear an all denim outfit (Canadian Tux life) so again, look forward to that as well! Bold choices are also something I've been looking at. Neons, and Metallics have caught my eye lately! Though I still have yet to wear the button up, I plan on doing so very soon! So check for that!

Patterns have always been a love of mine, but I'm really down for brighter ones lately. I have a few new pieces on their way to me that I'll definitely have to post soon (once they arrive). Sheinside.com is awesome for patterns along with Zara, American Apparel, and Urban Outfitters. Check them out!

 I'm not the biggest fan of pastels, but I really like mint! Apparel has some great mint products coming out in retail stores and has some classics that are already there! Definitely check them out for some mint if you love it as much as I do!


Now to play with my summer favorites, I put together a few looks with some of the items used to give an idea of how I would style them! I hope I gave you some summer ideas and I'd love to hear about your favorite summer trends!

SpringFling.

 I feel like I've been doing pretty good with this spring color thing haha.
Lately I've been wearing a lot of color and I'm actually okay with it. Like when spring starts to roll around, I'm always so nervous about cracking out the spring colors but I gotta admit, I'm really enjoying the awesome spring items I've found and have put together!

Happy 1st Birthday

On March 26th, A pertualstate: The Youth Novels had it's first birthday!
Yes, even I missed it, but hey! why not celebrate it late?

I just wanna give a huge thanks to all of you beautiful people who read my blog, comment, and support me! You're amazing.

With that being said, let's take a trip down memory lane. I snagged a few posts dating back to the start of The Youth Novels, and I gotta say, it's cool to look back on myself in the last year. Not a whole lot has changed, but I can still see how I've grown. It's awesome!
